New Reality

Before Cerene bows the stone giant. Many questions enter her mind about her new reality. Swirling winds, cool her skin and calm her mind.

This stone giant is what Cerene realizes she sat on for so many of her rests from journeys hunting through the forest. The stone boulder represented her place. Atop it, she felt invincible. It is where she learned to carve the filigree now seen in the trunks of the clearing's trees, to properly back flip and land, to shoot an arrow straight into the sunlight, and felt peace would always exist in the forest.

The stone giant doesn't represent any of those things. To her, it represents the destruction of them.

She slowly paces backward away from the stone giant. Leaving it in the clearing, alone. As she nears the opening in the treeline into the forest. She feels a warmth on her back. Quickly turning around she sees that the opening is still there but, she can not pass through it. A curtain of light faintly shimmers. Cerene's reaches out to touch the light and a noise from behind her takes her attention.

There is a flow of small lights emerging from the giant's sockets. They are lantern like and they slowly form a swirl extending out from the giant towards Cerene. Their fluttering wings can be heard. Their emerald glow is bright. The lights are even brighter as they begin to cluster in front of Cerene. They are now one large green ball of light, glowing so brightly that Cerene struggles to look directly at it. Shielding her eyes with her hand from the sting, the ball seems to be growing in size from its radiance.

The sound quietly subdues and a hand reaches out to lower Cerene's hand from her eyes.

"Hello, Cerene. I am Evangelina, the Queen Fairy."
